Hi guys, as I promised, I will write about my school's prom today.
Let me give you some glimpse of what happen exactly during the day itself before I share how to prepare for prom.
I would say it was a disaster for me going to a prom for the first time.
I have my piano lesson in the afternoon and went back home around 4.30pm
I went to the saloon at 5pm and it took more than an hour for my hairdo and makeup.
I was very rush for me and I had to ran back home to change up and get ready.
I literally forgot most of the stuff that I should do.
I forgot the take my camera, putting on my perfume, wearing a necklace.
Cool ain't it? A perfect lesson for me.
By the way, the major disaster have yet to come,
I basically have 2 pairs of high heels and bought it quite some time ago.
I don't usually wear it unless I have to because .. not to say I hate wearing it.
But I neither like it too.. I personally prefer sandals and slippers over high heels although I know it is pretty and all..
So, half way done the road, my high heels broke! I was thinking.. Am I filming a drama right now? Too bad the prince wasn't there ~ hahaha
So, I ran up to my house and get another pair of it..
Yeah, that's about it and let's get started.
1.PROM DRESS
Pick your prefect prom dress. But before that, check out some videos on Youtube to know which prom dress suits you best according to your own body. Doesn't mean that a girl wearing a beautiful prom dress can look pretty in it. Get me? Check out which necklines, length of the dress suits you more.
Then, know your budget! Don't waste time searching for some pretty dresses that you can't afford! There are tons of dresses that are pretty and cheap too!
There are 3 ways to get a prom dress.
Buy from a shop(mall),online shopping,lend from someone.
own experience...
I bought mine from an online seller and I know it is quite risky to buy it online because some measurements are just not right when you receive it and the quality might not be very good too. So if you planed to buy it online, do make sure than you got the right measurements and all so you won't regret and all. Plus, don't buy last minute(online shopping). At least if it turns out not how you want it to be, you will still have some time to buy it at the mall!
I bought mine a quite a cheap price I would say, because some of my friends bought at RM180 and all.. and I got mine at RM80 only.
2.PROM SHOE
Same goes for this. I would say, pick a pair of high heels and not wedges.
But if you already have one and STILL IN GOOD CONDITION, then just wear that to prom.
Unless you are super rich then go for it and get a new pair.
Picking the right colour of heels is also an issue and it depends on the colour of your dress.
For instance, if your dress is white colour, go for a darker colour like black for your heels.
CONTRAST is the key. But of course, don't pick a pink heels if you wear a green dress.
Search up in Google and there are tons of websites to guide you to choose the right colour.
Make full us of the Internet ! Haha
For the height of the shoe, it depends on the height of your prom date too.
You wouldn't want to be taller than your prom date don't you? =)
3.PROM DATE
Get your boyfriend, friend or just someone!
I don't think it is a necessary thing to have a prom date.
But having one would be nice too!
own experience ..
Get a date, get discount! Haha! For my school prom, it cost RM100 for the ticket and RM90 if you bring a prom date. And of course, cheaper is better ! Haha~
Cut the story short, I got my friend to find a guy friend of hers as my prom date.
We didn't know each other. We just went for the sake of cheaper price and all.
But of course, it is just like making a new friend and all.
4.MANICURE AND PEDICURE
I wouldn't say it is a must. But it is better and fun to have it on!
You can do it your own or just go to the shop and they will do it for you!
Remember. Have the colour match with your dress!
I don't have own experience for this though haha! I personally don't do manicure or pedicure. I have this bad habit of picking my nails.. Not biting! I know I should somehow stop this habit of mine. But, it is just too difficult.. but I like that way, I don't like having long nails . So I will cut my nails whenever I felt that my nails are long and all.
5.HAIRDO AND MAKEUP
Do it yourself or have the stylist to do it for you!
own experience..
I am not good at both, so I had the stylist to do it for me!
Remember to consider whether are you dancing or not to prevent your hair from falling out of place !
I finally learnt how to braid myself and now I am tempting to buy some makeups and try it on myself.
Cos going to the shop and have it done there is too pricey and all.
I prefer no makeup makeup look because it looks more natural and I hate fake eyelashes!
I remember that the stylist put it on for me and I teared.
It was personally view again, I dislike having it on because it somehow looks very plastic and fake and cheap on me. But I know it can look really pretty on others.
Just not me I would say! Haha~
6.BAG/CLUTCH
Keep it small and simple, cos you don't want to bring a huge bag along with you during prom!
own experience..
I didn't want to buy another clutch for this prom so I went ahead a use what I have.
I wasn't too big and it can fit quite a number of stuff.
Here are some stuff you MUST have in your bag/clutch..
Ticket to prom
Some bobby pins just in case you hair is out of place
A small camera
Some safety pins just in case you need it
Phone and comb
And of course some makeup to touch up your looks like lipstick, powder pact , mirror and etc.
7.ACCESSORIES
Earrings
Necklace.
Perfume.
Basically that's it! Remember to pack everything in your bag the night before to prevent havoc finding them and all! I hope you enjoy. God bless!
Me and my friends!
ADIOS!
